Terrorist alerts. Violent crime. Budget crises. Los Angeles is in the grip of an epidemic of traumatic stress. Now, a group of Hollywood stars and civic leaders will announce their plan to build a Peace Palace dedicated entirely to bringing relief to the stressed population of the city and promoting peace for a turbulent world.
The 12,000 square foot Peace Palace will be one of 100 in the United States and 3,000 worldwide. Already three $4 million Peace Palaces have opened in Bethesda, Maryland; Lexington, Kentucky; and Fairfield, Iowa.
Director David Lynch; actresses Heather Graham, Laura Dern, and Laura Herring; and actor Stephen Collins will be among the stars and business leaders who will host a news conference on Thursday, June 12, 10:30 a.m., at the Four Seasons Hotel, Burton Room, 300 South Doheny Drive, in Beverly Hills.
In addition, Dr. John Hagelin, quantum physicist and presidential candidate of the Natural Law Party in 2000, will announce the formation of a new “US Peace Government” which will administer the new Peace Palaces and promote programs to prevent crime and violence and problems in other areas of society. The Peace Government, to be launched at the Hay Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C. on July 2, will not usurp the responsibilities of the existing government, but instead, bring harmony and coherence to the nation.
The Los Angeles Peace Palace will be the center for a permanent group of 200 peace-creating experts who will practice Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programs. The peaceful influence of the group will reduce crime, violence, and conflict in the city.
Extensive scientific research, published in the world’s top journals, demonstrates that group practice of Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programs reduce the acute social stress that fuels crime and violence—while promoting harmony and peace throughout society.
The press conference will also feature a special videotaped message on the role of the Peace Palace by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the worldwide Transcendental Meditation organization.
The Peace Palace will be built according to the peace-promoting design principles of Vedic architecture in harmony with Natural Law.
